The company says the new facility will include over 10,000 square feet of data center space, making Peak 10's Louisville footprint close to 24,000 square feet. This will be Peak 10's third Louisville data center and will be located near the two original facilities.

"Such growth is made possible by our local team, which is committed to serving our customers and dedicated to interacting with the local business community."

Louisville's expansion is projected to be complete later this year, though it has not determined exactly when, and will boost Peak 10's footprint to 13 data centers within its nine key markets, which include Cincinnati, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia, Nashville, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida.

Peak 10 says all its data centers, a statement that presumably includes the new one, are engineered with multiple levels of security, uninterruptible power, redundant HVAC systems, fire suppression and around-the-clock monitoring and management. Each facility is also interconnected by Peak 10's private network enabling the company to provide business continuity for its customers' mission critical applications.

The Peak 10 news continues a wave of data center announcements over the past few weeks. Yesterday, Netherlands-based social networking service GyPSii reported it has opened a new data center in China while The TelecityGroup announced it is building a new data center in Paris for around $74.3 million.

Last week, Peak 10 reported it had amended and expanded its credit facility to the amount of $60 million.
