May 14, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Self-publishing software solution provider Purplenova (purplenova.com) announced on Monday that it has released a beta version of Purplenova 3.0, also known as the Easy Web Server, which enables users to Web host any content directly from an Internet-connected PC.
Purplenova says that by making content Web accessible from where it resides, Purplenova 3.0 provides an alternative to hosting with hosting services, ISPs or blog sites.
Purplenova 3.0 offers the ability to interface with traditional Web Servers such as IIS and Apache and users can install Web sites, even on computers that are behind firewalls, routers or network address translation devices, and make them Web-accessible through Purplenova. Purplenova says the solution also supports third-party applications and users can write their own desktop applications compliant with Purplenova API and remotely execute them via the company's Web site.
Purplenova was first launched in late 2006 as software for self-publishing directly from desktops. While early usage by the community was mainly restricted to sharing photos, media files and documents, Purplenova says the latest version of its software looks to address the general home-hosting and small business markets by supporting Web sites and active pages written in HTML, ASP, PERL and PHP that work together with traditional server software.
