April 17, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center products provider Rackable Systems (rackable.com) announced on Thursday that it has signed a deal with Japanese IT solutions provider ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (ctc-g.co.jp/en/index.html), or CTC, to integrate Rackable Systems' Eco-Logical line of servers into its data center offerings.
Under the terms of the agreement, CTC will implement Rackable Systems' energy-efficient data center solutions in its various data centers while offering Rackable Systems' solutions to its portfolio of customers, including many of the nation's largest Internet entities, says the press release.
In direct response to the Kyoto Protocol, the Japanese government announced a New National Energy Strategy in May 2007 and part of this strategy includes a national goal to reduce electric energy consumption of IT equipment by 50 percent by the year 2025. CTC says that eco-friendly data centers are one of a handful of solutions proposed to drastically cut energy consumption within the country's IT infrastructure.
The Japanese data center operator says that in order to ensure compliance, it has partnered with Rackable Systems, whose patented Eco-Logical server and storage designs provide the price-performance-per-watt ratios, flexibility and customization required to meet the nation's energy strategy.
"Part of Japan's commitment to reduce our impact on the environment requires the reduction of energy consumption, for which data centers play a significant role," says Masaaki Matsuzawa, senior vice president chief operating officer, Data Center Group. "By partnering with Rackable Systems, CTC is able to offer our customers the most extensive selection of environmentally-friendly, high-efficiency data center solutions on the market today."
In January, Rackable Systems was recently positioned in the Visionaries quadrant in analyst firm Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Worldwide Service Vendors, 4Q07."
