April 15, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider SoftLayer (softlayer.com) announced on Tuesday it was selected to be the hosting provider for game guild hosting provider MMO Guildsites (mmoguildsites.com).
"We're excited to be MMO Guildsites' solution of choice. They have an exceptional offering," says George Karidis, chief strategy officer for SoftLayer. "And we're proud of our role in the online gaming industry. We are an established leader in the segment, with a strong and growing customer base. Clearly, our level of performance and connectivity, as well as our interconnected facilities from coast to coast, have made us an ideal resource for the industry."
The Toronto, Canada-based MMO Guildsites offers services to help massive multiplayer online role playing game guilds to create feature-rich sites for its membership. It says it offers such site-building features as a design tool with an advanced AJAX interface, a visual theming tool with a library of 80 professionally designed themes and add-ins that integrate game activity into the guild sites.
Founded in 2006, the company has grown to host more than 700 sites for guilds worldwide, representing major game titles including World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, and EverQuest. The company's growth forced MMO Guildsites to find a provider that offered the combination of network reliability, hardware and services to ensure positive experiences for itself and its expanding customer base.
MMO Guildsites decided to choose SoftLayer for the level of performance and stability needed to meet its growing technology needs. SoftLayer will provide the company with its quad processor multi-core platform, its secure, out-of-band management through VPN for full control of its environment, enabled by its network topology, as well as its customer portal that enables the company to track its customers' traffic and usage.
The Web host recently installed its second 10G connection in Seattle, Washington with backbone carrier Qwest.
