Using Parallels software, Swyx rapidly delivered "Hosted SwyxWare," a hosted solution based on its "SwyxWare" telecommunications system for Microsoft Windows. The solution combines locally installed software components and virtual-PBX servers running in Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, helping businesses to lower costs by replacing or supplementing their conventional PBX solutions.

With the ability to scale from a single server to a multi-server environment, Hosted SwyxWare can support unlimited customers and be used as a pre-built, pre-configured solution. Swyx customers can still operate the application in the same way as in the past, but can also upgrade hardware or expand the base system without re-installation or downtime.

Using a single physical server and single OS installation, Parallels Virtuozzo Containers enables users to run workloads in multiple, simultaneously running execution environments. The company says Parallels Virtuozzo Containers offers greater density, performance and manageability than other virtualization technologies.

Parallels has partnered with several companies in the past couple months, licensing the use of its Virtuozzo Containers solution. Mail server vendor AXIGEN has integrated AXIGEN Mail Server and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers solution to market to service providers offering virtualized hosting environments.

Additionally, telecommunications provider Swisscom IT Services is offering virtual private servers and dedicated virtual servers using Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, Parallels Plesk Control Panel and Parallels Business Automation software.
