The backup server includes 6TB of capacity in an enterprise-ready RAID5 configuration, providing resellers and their users with strong performance, security and instant backup capacity for mission-critical environments.

The server includes R1Soft's (r1soft.com) CDPServer software, enabling end users to connect an unlimited number of server clients without the extra cost. R1Soft's continuous data protection enables The Planet customers to recover servers to their original known state by taking continuous data 'snapshots', as well as return to the last performed update to prevent any loss.

Additionally, the servers are equipped with bare-metal recovery, enabling users to bypass the file system and offer high performance during both backup and restore. Offered on both Linux and Windows platforms, the dedicated backup server is available on the Dell 2900 "monster" server and offers up to 8TB of free bandwidth.

"Data loss is no laughing matter, as far too many companies have learned," says Urvish Vashi, director of product management at The Planet.
