March 13, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Verio (verio.com) announced on Tuesday its Verio Linux Test Drive program for companies and developers interested in hosting services on the open source platform.
The company says as part of a new promotional campaign that focuses on the benefits of open source and Linux, users can test drive Verio's Linux virtual private server service free of charge for a limited time.
The Linux Test Drive will enable businesses, professional developers and VARs to explore for the first time how their company can best leverage Verio's Linux-based VPS. Linux VPS gives users access to the vinstall tool and a software library, enabling them to quickly deploy a number of preconfigured applications on their virtual server, like Apache 2.2.3 and PHP 5.1.5.
"We are excited about the possibilities that Linux and open source technologies offer in terms of business enablement and are confident it is the best solution on the market for many companies," says Heather Boyer, director of product management for Verio. "We're giving businesses and developers the opportunity to test out our product for free so they can experience first-hand the power of choice and control that VPS delivers, from the extensive vinstall library of applications, to FairShare technology and root access granted to users."
