March 12, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Fastech Integrated Solutions (fastechhs.com) announced on Friday that it will complete the certification process to offer Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (hipaa.org) of 1996 compliance to its customers.
"As the OnDemand software segment continues to grow, customers need the assurance of compliance levels that only certifications such as HIPAA and SAS 70 can provide," says Rick Hirsh, CEO of Fastech. "Having recently completed SAS 70 Type I certification with an independent auditor and expecting to complete Type II certification soon, we continue to create value for customers by adding HIPAA certification. This will open up new markets for them."
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, SAS 70 certification provides assurances that data center controls are suitably designed, that these controls are operating effectively and provides guidance for independent auditors who issue reports on the processing of transactions by service organizations such as on demand software providers.
Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires that publicly traded financial and service companies comply with SAS 70 regulations. The Department of Health and Human Services mandates standards-based implementations of HIPAA by all health care organizations that create, store or transmit electronic protected health information.
