Webhosting Day Bigger in Year Three

March 11, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Webhosting Day (webhostingday.de) the Web hosting industry event held in Germany and organized by hosting provider Intergenia (intergenia.de) returns for its third year beginning Wednesday, March 12.

Ignoring the implications of its name, Webhosting Day is a two-day event, held at the Phantasialand amusement park just outside Cologne, Germany, that seeks to cover the Web hosting business from a European perspective, though not with an exclusively European interest.

According to organizers, this year's event will host 800 attendees, far more than either of the previous years' totals, which reached approximately 500 attendees in 2007.

Perhaps the biggest change to this year's event is to the exhibit area, called the "hosting.FAIR," which appears to have moved from its fairly constricted former quarters alongside the main presentation space to the oddly-named Wuze-Town, a sort of dining hall equipped with a roller coaster that is sort of par for the uncommon course at the relentlessly odd Phantasialand.

Whereas at previous Webhosting Day events, the exhibiting area had been almost an afterthought in comparison to the quite meticulously scheduled sessions and keynotes, this year's exhibit area is large, with 30 participating exhibitors.

And unlike previous events, there is no overlap between keynotes and presentations, so attendees won't have to pick one or the other. They have already had to choose the sessions they want to attend, with some late registrants unable to make the first-come-first-served cut.

With the benefit of a few years' practice, Webhosting Day appears to be developing into a more complete tradeshow, where it might once have been more of a curiosity.
