March 2, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Non-profit data exchange The London Internet Exchange (linx.net) announced on Wednesday it is introducing traffic-based pricing in exchange for flat-rate fees.
Starting this June, LINX members will be able to take advantage of the lower fees with the new payment model, making billing and budgeting easier for them. LINX hopes that the new pricing strategy will attract new customers, as well as reduce costs for its existing members and their end users.
The London Internet Exchange connects the networks of more than 200 content delivery and Internet service providers so that traffic may flow more efficiently between them. LINX is one of the largest exchange points in the world in terms of the traffic that passes over its network and the Internet routes that are directly accessible from its peering LAN.
"The general consensus of LINX Membership is that they would prefer a simple, flat-rate pricing method which we are now delighted to offer," says Vanessa Evans, sales and marketing manager for LINX. "With the recent upsurge in membership we are able to abolish the traffic charge without any increase to our other fees."
Last week, LINX announced that it had added a connection point at Redbus Interhouse's Meridian Gate facility.
