February 29, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Open source Web application framework DotNetNuke (dotnetnuke.com) announced on Friday that it has released DotNetNuke version 4.8.1 to coincide with the official launch of Visual Studio 2008.
The new version of DotNetNuke's product offers native support for Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7.0, says the company.
"DotNetNuke is the leading open source enterprise Web platform for the Microsoft .NET technology stack," says Shaun Walker, co-founder and chief architect of DotNetNuke. "As a result we felt it was critical for us to embrace Microsoft's latest server platform and development tools immediately so that we can continue to maintain our competitive advantage and provide the maximum benefit to our many community stakeholders."
DotNetNuke says this release continues to offer backward compatibility with Visual Studio 2005 but also provides the freedom and flexibility for customers to move immediately to the next generation Microsoft technology platform. And with the multi-target version support offered by Visual Studio 2008, developers will have the ability to write applications that work with multiple versions of the .NET Framework, including versions 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5, says the company.
