February 21, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Search giant Google (google.com) introduced the widely anticipated beta of its AdSense service for video Thursday, delivering a service that should provide the means to generate more ad revenue from the massively popular market for online video.

Many of the details of the service are still unclear. It has yet to be made known what publishers' cut of video-based ad revenue will be, or how many publishers will be eligible for the beta program.
Partners currently signed up for the program reportedly include video ad network YuMe, Internet TV platform Brightcove and comedy site MyDamnChannel.
The beta program reportedly offers several formats for the video ads, including InVideo overlay ads and text overlay ads. The publisher's cut for the text ads will be measured in a cost-per-click model, while the InVideo cut will be based on a CPM rate.
According to reports, the beta service won't be available to everyone just yet. In order to qualify, publishers must operate English language sites based in the US, and must serve a minimum of one million video streams per month.
Publishers who don't produce video content can participate in a revenue sharing program with specific YouTube partners.
