February 8, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Crucial Web Hosting (crucialwebhost.com) announced on Wednesday it has launched the Crucial Cash Program, an affiliate program that offers affiliates a $101.00 payout for every successful referral that leads to a shared hosting product signature. The affiliate program will be available to all participants, including those without online market systems or Web sites.
Affiliates may place graphic and text links including their affiliate code on their Web site and other marketing material, so when a visitor clicks the link that connects to the Crucial Web site, a browser cookie will be set with that affiliate's code. The cookie has a 30-day expiration period, which enables the affiliate to profit if the visitor purchases within 30 days of the first visit to the Web site.
Crucial offers hosting plans from $9.99 per month, which includes a $49.99 setup fee. Offering a coupon code with a discount of more than $59.98 would make the sign-up completely free for the visitor and would provide for an affiliate commission of $41.02. The client pays nothing to sign up, and by using the discount code provided by the affiliate, the affiliate earns $41.02 for providing the visitor with the coupon code.
All Crucial shared hosting packages include a 101-day full money-back guarantee. Affiliates are paid after this 101-day grace period, allowing for any cancellations and credit card charge backs. The Crucial Cash Affiliate program includes a browser interface that allows affiliates to track delivered visitors and sales completed by those visitors including real-time traffic log graphing.

Simple, you're not reading it all the way... With a 101 day money-back, and the ability to offer a discount for free hosting and setup, your commission jumps down to a "reasonable" amount. At the same time you have to remember by the time you receive the commission, Crucial will have received enough $ from the setup and hosting in the amount of time to "compensate" for the commission being paid out. posted by: someone | February 12, 2007 11:01AM
That's how most affiliate programs work though, there has to be some time between the sale and the time when you get paid, because what if you refer someone who cancels or does a chargeback? It's just like DreamHost's affiliate program actually. I have 3 sales so far, but I didn't give a discount so that's $303 bucks. We'll see how it goes though... posted by: Mark | February 22, 2007 06:54PM
