February 4, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Network and IT solutions provider NTT America (nttamerica.com), a wholly-owned US subsidiary of NTT Communications, announced on Monday it has appointed Kazuhiro Gomi as chief technology officer.
In his new role, Gomi will lead the company's technology procurement strategy for optimal technology and vendor selection, industry relations and standardization efforts, and overall product portfolio management across all three business units at NTT America. Gomi is based in NTT America's New York headquarters and will continue to head GIN business unit at NTT America in addition to his new CTO responsibilities.
Gomi has previously worked on various research and development projects at NTT, as well as held senior positions at NTT Labs' central research organization in Japan before his assignment to head up the US operations of NTT Communications' global IP network business unit. He has an extensive background in product development and technology project management, showing his ability to assess overall trends and advise the company on technology issues.
"IP backbone technology is a key component in NTT Group's core infrastructure to support the Next Generation Network deployment and Mr. Gomi has strong expertise in that particular technology," says Tetsuro Yamaguchi, president and CEO of NTT America. "Such a strong asset should enable him to effectively lead NTT America through its next phase of growth and development and will ensure that NTT America's technology decisions are aligned with NTT Group's overall future architecture."
