MySpace Data Phished and Leaked

January 19, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- A large quantity of MySpace (myspace.com) user login and password data has recently been exposed and posted online.

Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.

According to reports, researchers looking into the phishing techniques used on the social networking site found that data was apparently gathered via a spoofed login page and over 56,000 sets of details are currently circulating online. Researchers also found through a traceroute that the site linked to the phishing attack was registered under a Marc Olano from LunarDev Productions located in San Diego, California.

Upon closer examination of the list, researchers say that some users spotted the phishing attempt right off the bat and posted fake or even abusive login information. In addition, phishing filters like Firefox, were quickly updated to warn users visiting the Web site.

However, that still didn't stop the link from being posted in a security form on the Full Disclosure Web site. Although the Web site hosting both the phish and the data has since been taken down, it is believed the data has been exposed to numerous visitors and is still available elsewhere on the Web.

So here's the real deal, I'm a victim here. Someone hacked into my domain account, set up those hacks, and phished accounts on myspace... but we have since resolved the issue. I apologize if you have been victimized as well, but really, think about it. If I were a hacker why would I use my own domain, that I've had up the last three years, and jeopordize something like this happening? Beleive me or not. I could care less. But it's the truth.

Sorry to hear that Marc. It could have happened to anyone, you were just the unlucky victim. All the best!

Marc, Sorry to here that occurred to you. I was hacked by a PINOY-Trojan. So make sure to update your security software and delete certain balute packages that can interfere with your system. Have a good one!

Sorry to hear that you are victim. How did someone hack into your domain account? My cousins next door neighbor was actually victimized by the person using your name. This is NOT COOL. I know it wasnt your fault, but it affects others. Im not that good in computers, therefore im not fully aware of the securities needed. But it sounds like your a smart guy and you should. I hope your improvements work. And i hope you start caring more for others. We have too many now that dont care, and its sad.

Marc, this is quite a perdicament I am in seeing how I was hacked by you....well I guess not by you but by the person doing the phishing. My myspace account was completely ruined, and now I cannot even get into myspace anymore. I am wondering if you could help me recreate my myspace using this new email address. A friend help me originally set everything up, and he is not around anymore, and since this is kind of related to you being your username and all, I figured you would be willing to help a guy out. I do notblame you at all for this as everyone is a victim, but would greatly appreciate your help. My offer stands. Thank you. Ismel

Mr Olano, I really appreciate you honesty, but i disagree with you willingness to pass the blame. My myspace account tied me to my family and many promiscuious mates that were in my top 8. But now my account has been locked up. Many of my friends and family are upset at me because they received sooo much spam, which was caused by a result of YOU. this has caused me many emotional pains and i demand more than a brush off. Im not asking for money, but maybe a little help with my friends. Could you email them stating what occured, how it was the hacking of your account that cuased the problem and maybe throw in a couple notes of how im a good guy. I would realy really appreciate it. Thanks bro.

Wow... you guys are kidding right? I'm not going to email anybody, and I'm not fixing anyones myspace account. I'M A VICTIM!!! Like I said, I'm sorry this all happened but it was not my doing. I myself cannot get back on myspace.

TO ALL: What ever was done was done. Marc Olano is no hacker and no desire to be one. I've known him for over 8 years and he wouldn't do a thing. You can say what you must. But believe me TOOTS, he's a swell guy who got hacked himself. To post blame on him is nonsense and for those who got their account messed up well you can put some blame on you. I always, always check the link prior to clicking on it. Myspace is a huge website. LEAVE MARC ALONE!! My EGGOT you are one dumb foolio for not checking your ftp and folders...One last thing to say is that this is a classic case of AS IP YOU ARE SOMBODY TO BE HACKED BY A TOOTSNESS!!

Sorry about that! Well umm, I am at this moment a victim, I changed my password, but i still cannot edit ANYTHING! And i need serious help..lol; But does anyone know anyway i can fix it?
posted by: Jamie Dawn | February 16, 2007 12:24AM

well this is more serious than you all think. that person can find out where we live, our phone numbers and much more. this isn't just a few of us, but thousands of us. im not gonna say that marc is the hacker nor that he is a victim. no one know's the real story. this is only internet and ppl do the craziest things all the time. the could be fake names and email's involved to keep this going. so tellin someone to check folders and ftp's won't help nothin. like someone said its a huge web site, so not everything has a complete trace. so in other words editting your profile should be the least of your concern
