Sitepak develops and deploys automation and control panel software that allows telecommunications and cable companies, along with ISPs, to broaden and profit from their service offerings for the SMB market. Sitepak’s flagship product, Onsite Hosting Controller, provides a single standards-based point of integration from which to optimize internal resources, making hosted services profitable. Its control panels for end users, support personnel, and data centers slash operating expenses and boost margins for these services.
Highlights
OHC is a service provisioning, management and automation system geared toward service providers focused mainly on shared hosting, though support for dedicated services is available. Service providers that purchase Sitepak OHC are typically focused on the small and medium-sized business segments, or target both business and consumer customers with bundles like DSL and Web hosting.
OHC includes a full set of end user self-management features as well as template-based Web site creation, single sign-on for third party applications, calendars and one-click mailing list setup. These features were selected based on the real needs of business owners who have to double as their own IT administrators while not having enough time, experience or desire to become fluent in technical matters.
With OHC, a customer’s site is not delivered from a single appliance. Instead, each of the site’s services will be distributed across the data center, ensuring the most use can be extracted from servers, services and operational teams. OHC functions as sophisticated middleware that does not create a single point of failure.
Onsite Hosting Controller also differentiates itself by offering what it calls the only backup and restoration tool that can be integrated into a control panel system.
More Information
Onsite Hosting Controller can provision services on all hosting platforms. It can also be integrated into existing enterprise infrastructures through a variety of technologies, including web services. OHC allows companies to integrate their own value-added Web applications and services, even those that are outsourced. OHC can be fully branded by telcos, cable companies, and other Internet service providers. It simplifies most hosting-related tasks like email and domain configuration, allowing communication firms to focus more on their core competencies and save money. According to Sitepak, using OHC can result in an overall reduction of more than 70 in support costs and can remove up to 100 percent of provisioning costs.
“OHC can now be installed in under one hour” says Eileen Goldfarb, CEO of Sitepak. “This results in immediate cost savings, since a service provider can attract and provision new customers with OHC’s features.”
Goldfarb characterizes OHC as a carrier-grade system that requires little setup time and downpayment. Unlike appliance-driven automation, OHC does not require customer migration. The system is designed to adapt to a service provider’s infrastructure, not vice-versa. As a result, service providers can continue to run and deploy their data centers according to their own specifications. According to Patrick Bradley, OHC’s lead architect, if you unplug OHC, you only lose your control panels. This is an innovation not typical with most automation systems.
