Last week we posted the first two videos from our trip out to The Planet's headquarters in Houston where we got the opportunity to sit down and chat with Doug Erwin, The Planet's chairman and CEO, and Urvish Vashi, director of product management.
While Doug touched on several different aspects of the company in his interview, both gentlemen took the opportunity to talk a little more about The Planet's efforts to adapt to the changing landscape of the hosting market. The company has just introduced its new managed offering Planet Northstar and it's dedicated server offering, re-branded as Planet Alpha.
While we were in Houston we also learned a whole lot more about The Planet's "world-class" data centers and customer support organization.
I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down with Jeff Lowenberg, VP of facilities, to get a better understanding of the unique green initiatives he's been implementing (which, by the way, are saving the company more than $1 million in energy costs and won Jeff recognition as data center manager of the year). I also got a better sense of what makes The Planet's data centers "world-class."
I later had the opportunity to have a one-on-one with Jim Picone, The Planet's VP of customer care, and discuss some of the strategies and metrics he's put in place since joining after the merger to make The Planet's support team second to none.
You can watch all four video features here.
