Last night we hosted the first WHIR Event in downtown San Jose in Silicon Valley. We had a great turnout of key industry players ranging from hardware providers, software companies, ISPs, web hosts and more. While vendors contributed to the majority of the crowd, it is only to be expected in the heart of the Internet industry.
San Jose has a great vibe which carried inside to the networking-friendly venue, Fahrenheit Lounge. We were even treated to some live music ending the night for geeks to get their groove on.
As we like to say about our events, “where web hosting business happens” was certainly in effect at last night’s event. Handshakes, business card exchanges, smiling faces and thirst-quenching beverages made for a very happy Californian crowd. It’s always nice to see people reunite with old peers and colleagues they haven’t run into for years, at a WHIR event.
We’d like to thank a good number of out-of-towners that made the trip in, including the folks like InkTank from down in L.A (a service and support company formed by the creators of Ceph, hardware leasing provider Data Sales Co. from Phoenix and call management reseller provider, Infratel, from Seattle. There was certainly some good west coast representation.
A huge thanks goes out to our 2012 title sponsors Parallels, e-onlinedata and Black Lotus, frequent sponsor Litle & Co. and newcomer sponsor Open-Xchange. They gave away some fantastic prizes to some lucky winners:
Kelly La of Accelerated Networks won a Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD Red On-Ear Headphone from Parallels
John Reed of Freedom Equality won an Amazon Kindle from e-onlinedata
Donald Weaver won a pair of Oakley Flak Jacket “Black Lotus” edition sunglasses
Tyler Smith of Highwinds won an iPad 3 wireless 16gb (white) from Open-Xchange
Terence Chong of Nsfocus won a $100 Visa Gift card from Litle&Co
We return to the west again next month on September 20 to Phoenix, Arizona for some hot times in the desert. That’s always a good event and we hope to see you there.
