The South by Southwest Conferences and Festivals kick off on Friday, March 8 in Austin, Texas, and this year there is a strong representation of cloud and web hosting providers.
SXSW Interactive 2013 exhibitors in the web and cloud hosting, domain and online security space include Codero, DigitalOcean, Domain.com, Incero, Linode, Server Bacon, Static, SoftLayer, .ORG The Public Interest Registry, .ME, Amazon Web Services, GreenQloud, Golden Frog and WordPress. Some of the web hosting exhibitors are repeat visitors from last year’s SXSWi conference.
MediaTemple and Rackspace Hosting will also be there, hosting several events throughout the week.
Rackspace has created a website with all the SXSW events it’s participating in or sponsoring, including the Lean Startup Conference and After-Party with 500 Startups, and the SXSW Interactive Accelerator Startup Village, and encourages SXSW attendees to use the hashtag #SXRackspace.
MediaTemple is sponsoring the SXSWi Closing Party on Tuesday, March 12, and several other meet-ups and events, including The Noun Project Iconathon. (mt) will be live-blogging SXSWi.
MediaTemple recently held a contest for its customers to win a trip to Austin and VIP tickets to its closing party, and it sounds like the winner is pretty thrilled.
“How many people can say their web host sent them to SXSW? Probably not many, but I sure can,” Lex Evan said on his blog.
If you attend any of the MediaTemple events, be sure to tag your Instagrams with #MTSXSW.
As startups become a crucial customer base for a lot of hosting and cloud hosts, I wouldn’t be surprised if SXSW becomes a can’t-miss conference for more service providers.
