On Tuesday, data center operator Data Foundry announced that it had broken ground on a new facility in Austin, Texas.
Prior to the groundbreaking, at HostingCon 2010, also in Austin, the company’s president and chief financial officer Shane Menking sat down with WHIR editor Liam Eagle for a WHIR TV interview to discuss the plans for the new project.
The project that began Tuesday was a 130,000 square-foot data center facility, the first phase of a 250,000 square foot facility that will in turn be part of a 40-acre campus known as the Data Ranch, and operated by Data Foundry.
In his conversation with WHIR TV, Menking discusses the facility currently under construction, as well as the long-term plans for the campus and the nature of Austin as a destination for IT services including colocation and web hosting.
