Last night was the third annual WHIR Networking Event in Chicago, and it did not disappoint.
What sets our Chicago events apart is the density of pure-play hosters that always attend. Where some other cities might be more fibre-oriented, like NYC, or more start-up focused, like Boston, there is something about Chicago that makes it quite possibly the best city to meet the most web hosts.
As usual, we had a solid base of locals in attendance such as web hosts Hostway and WiredTree, but also some visitors that flew in from the west coast just to attend the event including past WHIR Events sponsor Attracta, and organic storage company Scality. There was also good representation from local web designers.
Check out the photos of the event here.
The venue was probably one of the most successful ones we’ve held our events at, decked out with pool tables, and big bar, and plenty of room to network.
A huge thanks goes out to our new sponsors Arbor Networks and Digital Realty Trust, and most certainly to our 2011 title sponsors Afilias, Parallels, RioRey, e-onlinedata and Pillar Data Systems.
Afilias gave away 2 tickets to a Chicago Cubs game at Beyond the Ivy Rooftops to George Redenz of Trustwave
Parallels gave away an iPod Shuffle, Coby flip camera & Parallels branded neoprene laptop case to Dan Knight of Crowley’s
RioRey gave away a Nintendo Wii to Chris Sheridan of enom
e-onlinedata gave away a Roku Player to Christopher Johnson of Lia Sophia
Arbor Networks gave away an iPad 2 “kit” – 32 GB wif-fi iPad 2 with iPad 2 dock and a Smart Cover to Dave Dyson of Eclipse Telecom
Pillar Data Systems gave away an iPod Touch to Alexis Babiarz of WiredTree
Digital Realty Trust gave away an iPad
