As with each of our WHIR events, I wanted to make sure everyone – particularly those of you located in or around Houston – knows that we’re going to be in town next week for another of our WHIR Networking Events.
[If you’re not interested in my long explanation and want to head straight to the Networking Event Signup Page, here’s your link.]
The February 18, 2010 event will take place at The Grove, a pretty excellent-looking restaurant lounge type venue located at the south end of Houston’s Discovery Green urban park.
If the 10 WHIR events we’ve held up to this point are any indication, it will be a blast. So I’d suggest you come down and spend a few hours networking with some of Houston’s hosting industry contingent. We’re really focused on making these events a kind of catalyst for local communities within the business, and a lot of attendees have been telling me they appreciate that notion.
If you’re considering coming in from out of town, you’ll probably want to know that there’s a WHIR group rate at the St. Regis Houston Hotel. There’s more information about that on the event’s info page.
To RSVP to the event (this is free, but required), click the huge yellow “click here to RSVP” button on that page. Or, hey, click this link.
And if you’re not sure about whether you want to attend, here are a couple points for incentive:
Incentive number one – free food and drink and fun:
Because these events are made possible by our sponsors, they’re free to attend, and furnished with free food and drinks. The sponsors for the Houston event include OpenSRS, our title sponsor, as well as Alert Logic, The Planet, R1Soft, Attracta and Hosting.com. As you may be aware, Alert Logic, The Planet and R1Soft are local Houston-based companies.
Incentive number two – cool prizes:
Along with supporting the evening itself, each of our sponsors will be generously giving away a very cool prize to an attendee of the event. The list of prizes includes:
OpenSRS – OpenSRS Prize Pack
Alert Logic – Wii Fit board and Wii Lumberjacks game
The Planet – 8GB iPod nano
R1Soft – $250 Amazon gift card
Attracta – 3 bottles of wine
Hosting.com – Kindle
If you’re not interested in these prizes, I take that as a personal slight, based on the combination of my own interest in all of them, and my ineligibility to win them. Do me a personal favor. Come have fun and win a prize.
See you in Houston, people.
