The product has been in beta for a while, so you may have already heard that SoftLayer (www.softlayer.com) Technologies has decided to take advantage of Mezeo’s (www.mezeo.com) Personal Cloud Storage platform. The WHIR tv team was in Dallas to speak with both Mezeo CEO Steve Lesem and SoftLayer CEO Lance Crosby about the software, the partnership and the product Mezeo has developed. To give you a little background, Mezeo Software Corporation is a Houston based developer of online file services software and the industry’s first deployable, white label online file sharing and collaboration issue, but (as you’ll see) I let Lesem do most of the explaining.
It was really interesting speaking with Lesem about the advancements Mezeo has made in cloud computing products for hosting providers. His enthusiasm for this relatively new joint venture with SoftLayer was genuine and exciting, as you’ll most certainly pick up in the video. Dave Lopez, VP of marketing at Mezeo, set up a chance for WHIR tv to discuss Mezeo PCS with Lesem in order to understand how it provides service providers with quick leverage in the fast-growing online file storage market and lets them offer their own branded file service solution. He touches on how this is relevant in today’s web hosting market. One of the cool features of Mezeo PCS is true anywhere access from an integrated Windows desktop, rich Web 2.0 browsers with BlackBerry smartphone and Windows Mobile native client access.
Personally, I loved the setting for the interview. Nothing says “joint venture with SoftLayer,” like a giant Buddha head background with hippie-inspired quilt adorned walls! Both Lesem and Crosby offered compelling interviews and dramatic insight into the changing world of web hosting and cloud computing. Be sure to tune in closer to May to check out what Crosby has to say about the partnership.
