Made it to Hosting Con (unlike many others)

So apparently thunderstorms have kept many of the critical WHIR editorial staff away from Hosting Con until later tonight and caused them to miss the first full day of the conference.

I made it to the first full day of the conference, however I took a red eye in from San Diego through New York JFK, down to Dulles this morning and as luck would have it my red eye was completely full.

What does that have to do with anything? Well even though I was physically here today I wasn’t in much better shape to cover this even (or participate in it) than our valient stranded WHIR staff.

I did make it to Gillian Muessig’s from SEOMoz.org presentation entitled “Alternative to Search: Leveraging Local, Mobile, and Social Media Marketing”. I’ve seen Gillian do similar presentaions before and she never fails to impress. She’s able to convey a significant knowledge about how to leverage the moving pieces of social media to make sure that you’re hearing your customers and that they can hear and find you. Her sessions are not to be missed.

After Gillian’s session, I enjoyed a fabulous lunch courtesy of Hosting Con and then snuck off to try and rest.

Tomorrow will be a full day and I’ll post an update or two here.
