EMEA strategic accounts and channels sales director Lukas Hertig said it’s time to stop wasting time and adopt automation. In front of a large audience at Parallels’ EMEA Roadshow in Amsterdam, Hertig told European business leaders, “Stop wasting time developing your own billing system.”
Hertig sees no reason for wasting time developing it and other services if they are not your core business, especially since Parallels Operations Automation and Parallels Business Automation exist and are flexible to offer end users a wide variety of secure services. Operating as two halves of a whole automation solution, Operations Automation works in the data center and Business Automation helps with external services.
Providing a support system for enterprises and service providers who want to automate the delivery of server-based applications and resources, Parallels Operations Automation 2.8 helps IT administrators and service providers with provisioning, server management, application management, service plan creation and management, end-user self service using control panels, reseller/department management and task delegation.
Offering service providers a complete billing and business support system, Parallels Business Automation 4.4 features integration points for domain registration, SSL certificates, payment gateways, fraud detection, provisioning systems, and manually delivered services. And it lets vendors tailor bundles to specific markets, Hertig explained. “For example, you can create bundles for customers [such as] doctors, lawyers, etc.,” he said.
Business Automation lets companies offer branded support, promotions, and detailed reporting to support your marketing efforts. Hertig said this allows service providers to get creative, in fact, he encourages users to try new promotions and pricing structures. “If you’re a game server, charge a different weekend fee, because that’s when most people are using your services.” Companies so do such experiments knowing that Parallels will record the success of such campaigns.
Also, the marketing functions within Business Automation make it easy for ISVs to draw from their existing customer base to uncover additional revenue opportunities for service upgrades and cross selling by sending them information on targeted, relevant topics.
Finally, in order to become a one-stop-shop, businesses have to fill the holes in their packages of offerings, and the Application Packaging Standard (www.apsstandard.com) lets service providers easily offer third-party applications such as collaboration, CRM, VoIP, desktop security and online backup to end users. The standardized APS web application packaging simplifies application delivery and offers a catalog of web applications that can be seamless integrated into APS-compatible control panels.
