HostingCon has always been an event where leaders in the cloud service provider ecosystem come to network, have conversations about issues and trends and hear from thought leaders in the industry. Over time, it has morphed and grown from an event that mainly included traditional web hosts to a diverse group that includes a variety of service providers such as value added resellers, managed service providers, software/infrastructure/platform as a service provider’s, investment bankers, independent software vendors and of course, web hosts.

Every year we’re excited about the industry leaders participating in our conference and this year is no exception. We have more to offer than ever and this year we’re starting now, three months prior to the event. Over the next few months prior to HostingCon, we have three special guest bloggers, all industry thought leaders that will be contributing to your knowledge base. It is my pleasure to announce Theresa Caragol, Dave Gilbert and James Lippie as HostingCon evangelists for 2016.

The experience and expertise these three people have to offer mirror the areas of interests of our HostingCon and Penton Technology sites audiences, namely cloud services, MSP interests, telco and channel issues. Their posts each month leading up to HostingCon will be full of their experiences, research, views on issues and trends and tales from the trenches of IT services.

Here is a brief introduction to each of these industry leaders.

Theresa Caragol has over 20 years of strategy and implementation experience in IT, SAAS/PAAS/IAAS cloud and on premise solutions, enterprise hardware/software and telecommunications. She brings together a unique blend of skills and experience with extensive IT hardware and software knowledge in addition to partner ecosystems including resale, cloud, and managed services as well as traditional telecommunications experience.

She has advised both vendors and channel partners in growth strategy and partner development. With experience from several IT vendors and emerging SAAS/PAAS providers, she brings sales, channel, business development, P&L and strategic alliances and consulting experience. She has served on multiple IT industry advisory boards and her insights are grounded in field experience, strategic design, practical application and operational expertise.

Next we have Dave Gilbert. No stranger to controversy, he has become known in the industry as the “Big Cheese” and is a blogger, thought leader and frequent speaker at cloud-based Unified Communications industry events. An outspoken leader, entrepreneur and risk taker, Gilbert was a VoIP pioneer and has been focused since 2003 on bringing SimpleSignal’s Cloud communication technology into the enterprise.

In April of 2015, SimpleSignal was acquired by Vonage where he joined a cast of thousands of passionate people committed to making Vonage the fastest growing and most innovative Unified Communications service providers in the world. His revolutionary approach to the market using only indirect channel partners and master agents was well received over the years and led to stellar sales and corporate performance. His dedication to mentoring partners in cloud technologies, innovation and excellence has taken SimpleSignal from startup to serving tens of thousands of satisfied business customers. Under Dave’s direction, SimpleSignal won the Frost and Sullivan’s 2013 North American Entrepreneurial Company of the Year, has been named as one of the 2011,’12,’13 and ’14 Inc. Magazine’s 5000 fastest growing companies in America, has been listed as one of the companies in the distinguished Fierce 15, and CRN magazine’s “75 coolest Telecom’s”.

Finally, I’ll introduce Jim Lippie. He is a seasoned, self-motivated leader with a proven track record and a unique perspective on the channel. As the former President of IndependenceIT (iIT), one of the fastest growing cloud desktop companies in the World, Jim Lippie was responsible for helping the MSP community identify opportunities to grow recurring revenue and add value to end-users.

Lippie joined iIT and built a foundation for success, growing the partner base over 250 percent and increasing revenue nearly 300 percent over 18 months. Over the years, Lippie has developed his “Channel Eclipse” philosophy and has become a strong and outspoken advocate for the channel. His passion to help sustain the channel is what led Lippie to form Clarity Channel Advisors. He is now dedicating his experience to helping all of the companies in the channel ecosystem.

Formerly, Lippie was the President and CEO of Thrive Networks, a Staples Company and a partner at Client First Associates, a management and organizational development-consulting firm. He is the author of “Five Management Principles in One CREAD: A Management Guide to Live By.”
