Following a brief introduction from Martin McCarthy, CEO of 451 Group, the parent company of Tier 1 Research, Dan Ephraim, Tier 1’s VP of business development introduced the event itself, which he says has sold out for each of the last three years.
The intro was a bit of a combination of housekeeping – agenda information and other details about the event – and a bit of a philosophical discussion of Tier 1’s business and objectives, as well as a bit of an introduction of a lot of the Tier 1 analyst team.
He made a few interesting points about the nature of the attendance at the event, saying that the audience in the room represents a huge amount of data center capacity and institutional investment dollars, and that there are a lot of people in the room (c-level executives and other decision makers) who have the power to make buying decisions and other deals.
This is kind of the nature of this event – bringing together investors, outside technology providers and decision makers at a high level to do business. The people at this event, he says, could be your next partner or supplier. The idea is that people are going to making deals that are significant to their business while they’re here.
