I think that Matt is a very wise guy. Wordpress and the blogging platforms are simply improving the usage of the internet. I've been blogging myself and I realized that I can reach out to way more people that I used to with some self scripted php code.
Wordpress is beautiful. A lovely community that sticks up for it and I bet that the development is not completed yet.
