Last Thursday we held the fourth annual WHIR Toronto Network Event, and, as always in our hometown, we did not fail to please. Toronto tends to draw one of our larger crowds as it did again this year with about 140 happy and engaged attendees.

We did something a little different from our prior event formats this time and had a guest speaker kick things off. Philbert Shih, Structure Research’s Founder and Managing Director, presented a market overview and synopsis, looking at the hosting and cloud sector, and discussed its current growth trajectory.  He, of course, touched upon the Canadian market toward the end which provided valuable insight to local attendees. For more information about Structure Research, you can visit their website.

Next week kicks off the first ever set of WHIR Networking Events in Europe. And we’re pretty darn excited.

First stop is Amsterdam, Netherlands, in the land of tulips, next Tuesday May 22. Then we head to Berlin, Germany for Thursday May 24′s event. The following week finds us in Paris, France on Tuesday May 29, making our way north to London, UK, on Thursday May 31.

It’s immensley exciting to see this European tour come to fruition, after being in the works for for a long time, since the North American networking events have been so successful into their fourth year.

The web hosting industry has no doubt exploded in Europe over the last five or so years, so we feel it’s time we bring WHIR Events to your backyard if you are from that region. We hope this is just the beginning of more regular WHIR happenings on the other side of the pond.

For more details and to RSVP to these events, visit www.WHIREvents.com

When we, as individuals and entities, attempt to find a voice in social media, we often play it safe to make sure we don’t end up sounding foolish. However, by playing it safe, and simply deploying facts and findings, we may be missing the personality that really makes social media such a success.
