Reselling SSL Certificates

Reselling SSL CertificatesIf you’re a Web designer with clients looking for e-commerce sites or a small ISP or Web hosting provider, becoming an SSL certificate reseller is something that could expand your product offering as you become a “one-stop-shop” and add value to your customers since it’s become the norm for any online businesses performing online transactions to secure their websites.nnThawte (thawte.com) has a Reseller Partner Program setup that offers competitive discounts to resellers and rapid integration tools that have you selling to your customers quickly and efficiently. You can offer your clients co-branded certificates that have both your logo and Thawte’s secure badge of approval. The certificates can also be issued to internationalized domain names. Thawte provides a dedicated account management team and a flash-based three-step end customer enrollement process that they can fill out right on your website. You can also get substantial discounts off of the Thawte retail price for all products and manage your customer renewals at discounted prices.nnRapidSSL (rapidssl.com) also offers a reseller program that enables you to integrate the RapidSSL and professional level certificates with your own products. It offers a “pay as you go” system where no cash outlays or non-refundable account deposits are required and you simply pay for certificates as they are resold. RapidSSL also offers automated online validation, which means no faxing of documents are necessary, and it says it issues customers their certificates in a matter of minutes. “Pay as you go” prices start at $39 and a bulk purchase of 10 brings it down to $37 per certificate.nnDigicert (digicert.com) says its reseller program offers reliable technical support and a generous revenue-sharing arrangement for resellers, including royalties on future sales and renewals. The company says its reseller program is ideally suited to e-commerce service providers and provides the opportunity to open a new stream of recurring income without the need to hire additional staff. Also, rather than offering a pre-pay option, Digicert says its reseller program is free to sign up for with no overhead and your commission level is based on the volume of your sales, which start at a base commission of 10 percent per sale.
