How to Get Top Search Engine Ranking for Your Website, FREE

If you are operating a new business, a small business, or a not-for-profit, you most likely do not want to have to pay for advertising for your enterprise or organization. So getting top search engine ranking for your website, meaning first results page or at the very minimum second results page, could be a very helpful start of your publicity efforts.nWhatever you have heard, read, studied or researched about how to get top search engine ranking for your website, if you are reading this, the suggestions you have been following probably have not yielded much success. Now I know from personal experience that the information and advice out there on this topic is not always all that straightforward and some advice even directly contradicts other advice on this subject. Also, one slight complication is that the rules used by the search engines change over time, but don’t worry about that. Simply do whatever you can now, following these points:nWebsite Domain NamenIf you have not yet bought a domain name, you could be in a better position to help the ranking of your site (if you already have a domain name, you could always buy a new, better name if necessary). For at least some of the four biggest search engines (Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask.com), the domain name is taken into account when calculating the search rankings. You want  your domain name to be the same as or as close to the most searched-for “keyword” for your website as possible.nTitle, Keywords and DescriptionnWithin the HTML code not seen by the visitors to your site are three sections called “title,” “keywords” and “description”. The title is the text that the visitors to your website see in the blue bar at the very top of the screen. It will be helpful to your website’s search engine rankings to have the “title” include the domain name of your site if your domain name contains most-searched for words and/or phrases relating to your site, or if it doesn’t, to include those keywords in the title. A keyword can be a phrase or group of words, it is not restricted to one word. Your keywords should be as specific as possible, kept to a low number (less than 15 – 20), and placed in order of relevance and likelihood of being used as a search term to find your website, with the most relevant and likely to be searched for keyword first. The description should, if at all possible, also contain your top-rated keyword, preferably at the very start or as early in the description as possible.nThe Text of Your Website ItselfnOne of the most important things that is equally important or maybe even more important than the “title,” “keywords” and “description” sections (they are technically called “meta tags”) is the actual content of your website itself. To get top rankings in the search engines, it is important to have the most searched for keywords appear in the text of your webpage.nYou should keep in mind that even once you have followed these suggestions here and been blessed with first-page ranking of your website in search engines, whatever else you could add to that over time would also be likely to immensely enhance your operations.
