Help Choosing a Domain Name URL

Reference | in ,, | by Ramadama Dingdong

With so many important web development and Internet marketing decisions to make, entrepreneurs and business owners very often arrive at a hurried decision, when selecting their website domain names; and popular social media URLs. This should be regarded a very risky practice, for businesses to engage in. Before launching a website, blog or social media profile, businesses need to strongly consider the long-term value and importance, of the domains they are choosing. Each domain name or URL that is picked, must consistently reflect the long-term marketing strategy and brand building efforts, of the company or organization. The registering of a domain name should be seen as an investment, and regarded as an important business commitment, that is considered paramount to the continued success; of the company’s Internet marketing endeavors.nAlthough branded domain names are more popular with advertising, marketing and branding managers of corporations, organizations and businesses, Internet and search engine marketing professionals will often highly recommend selecting a domain name; that is heavily influenced by detailed keyword and keyword phrase research. Why the discrepency in opinion? you may ask. Likely because time and again, it would appear that exact match domains are favored in Google’s algorithm, and as such the Google search engine (often) returns them more favorably; in their organic search results. With this in mind, businesses are beginning to considering alternate marketing methods, to inspire motivated Internet consumer search traffic. For example, a marketing and brand building strategy may utilize branded social media urls, to generate consumer awareness and encourage brand recognition; in search results as well as busy social communities.nWith that being said, if market research shows that the majority of Internet consumers are searching for a brand by name, then a branded domain name or URL is considered ideal; for this type of marketing approach. In this case, it has been determined that the company brand, is the most popular keyword and search term; eliminating the need to compete for organic words or terms. Otherwise, until Google changes it’s algorithm to addresses the obvious influence of exact match domains in it’s search results, the Swamp Ass recommends an exact match domain based on a keyword or a collection of keywords (phrase). As such, when making a decision between a branded url or exact match keyword domain, consider where your Internet consumer traffic will originate from; and base your decision on the search patterns and behaviors; that consumers are commonly displaying there.
