Boasting the best service for your buck, XXXWebHosting promotes stellar-quality service to exceed the customers' needs.
When XXXWebHosting made the transition from dial-up Internet Service Provider with hardware, to an adult Web hosting company in 1996, it worked off a stately T1. Just three years later, the company switched to a multiple OC12 platform to keep up with an expanding clientele and its growing needs.
Keeping pace in the adult hosting industry is no easy feat. But XXXWebHosting has its customers' best interests in mind -- that's why technological advances are rigorously tested before the network sees them.
"Our main focus is support, reliability, speed and superior communication," says president Phil Blancett. "We concentrate on every account as if it was a dedicated server paying us $5000 a month, even if it was a Plan A at $50."
So far, this aim-to-please attitude has won the company a steady base of clients. Selling more than 20 new, dedicated servers a month, Blancett says growth in the industry is both the greatest challenge and best friend. "The positive growth in this industry will allow many newcomers to strike it big," he says. "It reminds me of the Gold Rush to California in 1849, except it seems like most people are able to stake a decent claim."
When there's gold in your pockets, your pants must be protected. XXXWebHosting understands this and has successfully tackled the issue of security since day one. By providing systems of both bandwidth protection and password hurler scripts for maximum password protection, the company guarantees that every investment is a safe one. Both systems are installed on all the company's sites at no extra cost to the customer. Blancett says this is of the utmost importance.
"We have made our piece of the pie by knowing the ins and outs the trade," he says. "Customers will often come to us for our security standards alone. When your host tells you they've had a break-in, your bandwidth overages are $500 that day. This won't happen on our servers -- if it does, you won't pay for the bandwidth." In addition to this, all of the company's servers are guard protected in data centers 24/7.
XXXWebHosting has two key philosophies of success. The first: never make assumptions about the needs of the consumer. And secondly: build strong alliances to consistently meet those needs. The company expects even the smallest underdog shine.
"Our servers are built with the anticipation of any site exploding, pushing 30 gigs out on any given day, Blancett says. "Most hosting businesses look at 30 gigs of usage in a month. They aren't prepared for the high level of communication and server needs that adult customers possess."
To meet service needs, the company has a variety of allies and link exchanges with other sites. "This is the key to our success," Blancett says. "We have live feed deals and Web design deals with other companies and we add more all the time."
For content, XXXWebHosting is affiliated with Holio.net, which provides up to 13 different package plans, and also Babenet.com, which offers unlimited access in several membership plans. For billing, they work with iBill.
While XXXWebHosting outsources its data centers to a company in Sacramento, CA, they maintain that the relationship between the two shops is very close. Blancett says, "I have been friends with the owner since grammar school. It is a top-notch facility with 24-hour customer and technical hardware services. Our real secret is the ability to build servers that don't have down issues and are monitored by us expertly." XXXWebHosting is a wholly owned subsidiary of a major Northern California Internet Service Provider. Its upstream provider is Verio, Inc., a nationally recognized Internet networking leader.
XXXWebHosting is on a mission to become the premiere adult hosting company on the Net. Blancett believes they provide the packages, service and support to do so. If you're not convinced, he suggests talking other companies for comparison. "Customers should get them on the phone, get references, pick their brain,” he says. "Make sure you understand all the features and terminology that is presented. Because, unfortunately, there are many ways to go wrong with an adult hosting company."

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project. July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer. About This Issue | Read Digital Edition
May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
